The International Council on Women’s Health Issues (ICOWHI) is an international nonprofit association dedicated to the goal of promoting health, health care, and well-being of women throughout the world through participation, empowerment, advocacy, education, and research.

We are a multidisciplinary network of women’s health providers, planners, and advocates from all over the globe. We constitute an international professional and lay network of those committed to improving women’s health and quality of life.

Every two years the International Council on Women’s Health Issues Congress brings together a range of disciplines involved in women’s health including; nursing and allied health, clinical medicine, public health, education, epidemiology, law, policy, and social research. The event aims to advance the science and art of women’s health, and provide scientific meetings for scholars from different disciplines to improve understanding, education, research, and services related to women’s health, globally. Since the organization formed in 1983, the ICOWHI Congress has been held on six continents. The 21st ICOWHI Biennial Congress is scheduled for November 6-9, 2016 in Baltimore, Maryland, U.S.A.

The ICOWHI Congress is an opportunity for health professionals and related disciplines to review multi-dimensional aspects of current women’s health issues and facilitate partnerships and networks to enhance women’s health status, their social equality, and quality-of-life.

Key topics that will be discussed include:

• Ending poverty and addressing social determinants of health

• Health and well-being for women and girls across the lifespan

• Gender equality and improved women’s rights

• Strategies to reduce violence against women and girls

• Promote sustainable, accountable, inclusive environments for women and girls
